1. Land is a relatively easy investment to understand. When investing in land, you will not have to worry as much about understanding the complexity of the European sovereign debt crisis, the weak housing market, the high unemployment rate or other world and national events that have and will continue to wreak havoc on your investments in the stock market. With a land investment, understanding value changes is usually very straightforward and fairly simple to understand.

2. Land is a tangible asset. Unlike stocks, land is an investment in a physical asset that you can visit and walk on. Land provides many practical avenues for generating income such as farming, timber management, renting, sub-dividing, etc. How much recreation can you experience with your paper investments? The answer is absolutely none, and we would be remiss for not mentioning the advantages of owning your own land if you are a hunter. 3. Historically land values have moved in an upward trend. As Will Rogers said, “Buy land. They ain’t making any more of the stuff.” The national population is 312 million, and the Census Bureau projects it will increase to 439 million by 2050. The growing population will continue to create more demand for land. Therefore the likelihood of making money in a prudent land investment is great over the long haul. In recent years the increases in land values have been gradual, but steady.
